JAKARTA - The England women's national team won Euro 2022 after beating Germany on Sunday, July 31. Ellen White became one of the stars who were considered to have a role in the success of England.

There is an interesting story behind the figure of Ellen White. Who would have thought, the 33-year-old woman was banned from playing soccer as a child.

This was revealed after appearing on social media a photo on the front page of a media reporting this fact. It happened in 1998 when Ellen was 9 years old.

At that time, she was banned from playing in the local boys' league. In fact, she is already a member of the Arsenal women's team academy.

The front cover of the September 23, 1998 edition of The Bucks Herald featured a photo of Ellen looking gloomy in a Gunners uniform. The story was later captioned "Girls' football banned by the boys' league".

There is a quote that expresses the player's disappointment at that time. "Ellen is only nine years old and can't understand why she can't play football", the media wrote.

One of her former teachers at The Grange School, Aylesbury, explained that the school did not include girls' football in its curriculum. That's the reason why they don't have a women's team either.

"But she always played football with the boys and liked all the sports", said the teacher, as reported by the Daily Star.

After leaving Arsenal at the age of 16 to join Chelsea, White went on to become a star for several clubs. Having returned to Arsenal, he then joined Notts County and Manchester City, her current team.

She has also won 113 caps for the England women's national team and scored 52 international goals.
