MLB Baseball Star Says Brittney Griner Arrested By Russian Authorities Should Be Punished For His Actions

JAKARTA - It has been more than 150 days since Brittney Griner was arrested in Russia for carrying a vaporizer with hashish oil in her luggage.

The WNBA player has asked United States president Joe Biden to help her and several prominent celebrities are also fighting for the basketball player's release.

However, while a number of prominent names including NBA star Lebron James called for Griner's return to the United States, others were less forgiving, with former MLB League Baseball pitcher Curt Schilling voicing his displeasure at Griner's actions.

Replying to a post made by James Schilling stated that Griner was not obeying the law and must pay for his actions.

"I know this may seem like a stretch," Schilling said on Twitter.

"But roughly 300 million people understand 'OBEY THE LAW', why is it being violated?

"And why should he NOT be punished for breaking the laws of another country?"

Griner actually pleaded guilty to the charges brought against her and she also told the judge she didn't want to break the law.

However, Schilling used Griner's defense against herself by stating that she confessed to breaking the law and should be punished accordingly.

"He is, as far as I can tell from every quote," Schilling continued. "[She] NEVER denied committing a crime, not once."

Meanwhile, the US for its part has classified Griner as "wrongly detained" and is trying to negotiate with the Russian government to bring him home.

Griner faces up to 10 years after pleading guilty.
