MMA Fighter Dies After Being Hit In The Head, Indian Police Launch Investigation: Organizer Allegedly Negligent

JAKARTA - An MMA fighter named Nikhil Suresh died after a kickboxing fight in India. The 23-year-old fighter died after receiving a blow to the head.

The sickening footage shows Suresh falling to the ground after receiving a blow to the head. He was rushed to the hospital but died four days later.

Suresh participated in the state-level K-1 kickboxing championship organized by the K-1 Kickboxing Association of Karnataka. As a result of the 23-year-old's death, authorities have now launched an investigation into the organizers of the event.

According to local news media, police visited the Rapid Fitness Gym in Jnanabharathi, where the fight was being held, on Friday.

"The inspection of the venue will play an important role in proving or disproving the allegations of negligence involving the organizers, as Nikhil's father claims", the police statement said, as reported by the Daily Star.

Suresh's father filed a complaint with the police over his son's death, accusing organizers of negligence.

Suresh's coach, Vikram Nagaraj, said it was a burden to deliver this bad news. He said he was devastated by the death of the MMA fighter.

"My son Nikhil decided to hang up his gloves today. His beautiful soul left us after struggling so hard in the early hours of this morning despite the best medical care. He will be engraved forever in our hearts and memories."
