To Be The Host, Shin Tae-yong Targets Indonesia To Win The 2022 AFF U-19 Cup

JAKARTA – Shin Tae-yong has set a target for the Indonesian U-19 national team in the 2022 AFF Cup which will be held next month. This target is supported by the preparations that have been made so far.

The age group championship in Southeast Asia will take place from 2-15 July next year. Indonesia competed with the status as the host.

"In very good preparation. So our target is to win because we are playing at home,” said Shin Tae-yong at the Madya Stadium, Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday, June 21.

The Korean tactician has summoned at least 30 players to attend the training camp in Jakarta in preparation for the event.

The majority are players who previously competed in this month's Toulon Cup. In this competition, Shin Tae-yong did not directly accompany his squad, but only monitored remotely via video and television.

"If you look at the performance and changes in the players, they are very good. I believe it will be even better," said the South Korean tactician.

In this year's competition, Indonesia is included in Group A which is considered a difficult group. The reason is that in the group, Thailand and Vietnam are also joined as well as Myanmar and Brunei Darussalam.

Indonesia will start their journey in the group against Vietnam at the Patriot Chandrabaga Stadium, Bekasi, West Java, on Saturday, July 2. Kick off the match starts at 20.30 p.m. GMT+7 (Western Indonesian Time or WIB).
