Joan Mir's Story About Aleix Espargaro's Failure In MotoGP Barcelona: He Won't Do It Again

JAKARTA - Suzuki Ecstar racer, Joan Mir, understands the mistakes made by Aleix Espargaro at the Barcelona MotoGP race, Sunday, June 5. According to him, it could happen in the race.

Joan Mir then told what he witnessed during the incident. He believes Aleix Espargaro lost focus and made the blunder.

"On the last lap, I looked at the dashboard of my bike, but when you go fast you have to focus," said Joan Mir, as quoted by Motosan.

"At one point I thought he was done or the bike had a problem, then I saw Zarco keep on riding the bike and I understood what was going on."

As previously reported, Aleix Espargaro lost the podium at the Catalunya Circuit after making a fatal mistake. When the race was left with one lap, the Spaniard was already waving to the crowd and thinking of finishing on the second podium.

However, he only realized that the race was not over after seeing the rider behind him still speeding up. As a result he was overtaken by Jorge Martin, Johann Zarco and Joan Mir.

Luca Marini also briefly overtook Aleix Espargaro, but the Aprilia Racing driver managed to reclaim his position. He also had to finish in fifth position.

"It's difficult to explain, but when you ride a MotoGP bike, doing 25 laps at the limit, it's very easy to make mistakes," said the 2020 MotoGP world champion.

"I'm sure Aleix (Espargaro) won't do it again," concluded Joan Mir.
