Indonesian National Team Faces 2023 Asian Cup Qualification Without Egy Maulana Vikri, Irfan Jauhari And Ernando Ari

JAKARTA - Egy Maulana Vikri's hopes of defending the Indonesian national team in the 2023 Asian Cup qualifying event have been dashed. The player has been ruled out due to an injury.

This injury also made the former FK Senica player absent when the Indonesian national team drew 0-0 against Bangladesh in Bandung, last Wednesday. He got the injury when he appeared in the 2021 SEA Games semifinals against Thailand.

Apart from Egy Maulana Vikri, the Indonesian national team will also not be strengthened by Irfan Jauhari and Ernando Ari. Both are also reported to have struggled with injuries.

Previously, the hopes of the Indonesian national team coach, Shin Tae-Yong, to rely on three naturalized players from Europe also failed. Jordi Amat, Sandy Walsh, and Shayne Pattynama are still undergoing the process of becoming Indonesian citizens.

However, PSSI General Chair Mochamad Iriawan remains optimistic that Marc Klok and his friends can qualify for the 2023 Asian Cup.
