JAKARTA - Indonesian League 1 club, Persija Jakarta, are expanding their wings into the world of eSports. The capital club inaugurated a club called Persija Esports which currently has a Valorant team.

The formation of the Persija Esports club is to strengthen the Persija brand in the sports world. Persija management sees the need to bring the club into a new era, namely the digital world, along with the times and technology.

"By carrying out a digital transformation with the vision beyond football, even beyond sports," said CEO of Persija Esports, Harlin E. Rahadjo, as quoted by Antara.

Based on that thought, Persija finally formed a new business unit, namely PT Persija Jaya Esports. In it, the Valorant eSport team was formed.

Harlin added that his party hopes that the birth of Persija Esports can provide benefits for the sports and digital ecosystem in Indonesia. Especially the eSport world ecosystem in the country.

"Hopefully Persija Esports can excel and will be able to bring the fragrance of Indonesia's name in the world sports arena," he said.

The Valorant Persija Esports team is now filled with five athletes and has appointed Nanda "Asterisk" Rizana as team captain. For the position of coach, this new team chose Andrew "Bali" Joseph.

The last name is a legend from the Indonesian Counter Striker (CSGO) game.

Even though it has just been officially launched, this team has already participated in the Asia Pacific tournament. They successfully won sixth place in the knockout round of the Valorant Challengers Tournament Asia Pacific.

"Persija Esports was formed by me and the management team from January, and during that time we were indeed looking for suitable players to be part of us, and coincidentally there was a team without an organization filled with star and great players," said Andrew.

After communicating, both parties finally agreed to work together. Then the family from Persija Esports was born.
