Joan Mir Reveals Horrible Facts About Mandalika Circuit Track: There's A Hole At The Last Turn!

JAKARTA - Surprising facts were revealed by Suzuki Ecstar racer, Joan Mir, regarding the Mandalika Circuit which is the venue for MotoGP, last weekend. The Spaniard said there was a hole in the last corner towards the end of the race.

According to him, that was the reason why the race was finally reduced in the number of laps.

"The problem with asphalt is more for dry conditions, but even in rainy conditions, you start to see some holes at the end of the lap, the last corner. Imagine on dry terrain? Woah, it will be difficult," said Mir as reported by Crash.

"It will be a challenge to finish the race."

"For us, it was a surprise when they reduced the laps. I only realized it was 20 laps during the Moto2 race. It was because of the last corner. The asphalt had holes," he continued.

The problem of asphalt at the Mandalika Circuit was also regretted by Mir's teammate, Alex Rins. He said the asphalt at the last corner of the Mandalika Circuit peeled off during the race.

Rins also hopes that the management of the Mandalika Circuit will re-pave it for next season. Mir also hopes that the Mandalika MotoGP race next year will be better.

"Repave for next season is very important," he said.

The asphalt problem at the Mandalika Circuit has actually become a problem after the pre-season test last February. The management has tried to overcome this by re-paving in some parts.

The re-paving was successfully completed in a short time, before the race started. However, admitted General Manager of Roadgrip Motorsport Indonesia (RMI), as the main contractor for the construction of the Mandalika Circuit, Simon Gardini, it was not ideal.

"Usually a surface like this is done longer, three or four months before the event is held. So we will wait when the bikes are on the track to see how it turns out in that short time," he said on the official MotoGP website, after re-paving at the Circuit Mandalika done.
