Despite A 1-0 Win Over Liverpool, Inter Milan Were Knocked Out Of The Champions League

JAKARTA - Inter Milan beat Liverpool 1-0 in their Champions League last-16 second leg at Anfield on Wednesday, but they failed to advance to the quarter-finals as they lost 1-2 on aggregate.

As reported by Antara, Inter Milan's goal in this match was scored by Lautaro Martinez in the second half. Inter itself had to play with 10 players after Alexis Sanchez got a red from the referee.

Liverpool tried to attack from the first minute and press high, but Inter played calm and were able to press the hosts back.

In the first 10 minutes, both teams had several times launched attacks into the penalty area of their respective opponents. However, there is still no real opportunity created.

Liverpool did dominate possession, but they struggled to open up the Inter defense. On the other hand, the Nerrazurri themselves looked quite troublesome for the Reds when attacking.

Real opportunities were finally created in the 31st minute. Matip's header from Trent's free-kick from the left side of the Inter penalty box hit the crossbar.

A minute later Van Dijk headed in from Trent's corner, but Skriniar blocked the ball.

Sanchez finally fed the ball to Lautaro Martinez before the Argentine striker shot straight from outside the penalty box. Alisson couldn't stop the ball from going into the top left corner of the goal. The score became 1-0 to Inter.
