JAKARTA - Pol Espargaro has revealed that he has a different approach to starting his second season with the Repsol Honda team in the 2022 MotoGP.

"Of course, I approach this season with more experience which is one of the most important things in MotoGP," Espargaro said in the HRC team presentation video released Tuesday, quoted by Antara.

The pre-season test in Sepang, Malaysia, last weekend, according to Espargaro, became a very important provision to face the 2022 MotoGP, starting from the team to feeling the motorbike that was just released by Repsol Honda.

"My riding style is pretty much based on rear grip and that's what the new bike is based on. We, all the riders, have been complaining about that for the last year and to be honest, Honda did a really good job," said Espargaro.

Furthermore, the 2013 Moto2 world champion said the HRC team managed to touch the point that was a problem in the previous season to improve. So, he feels ready to fight for the targets that have been set.

Repsol Honda Team Manager, Alberto Puig, hopes that Espargaro can fight for a good position in the 2022 season. Puig realizes that last season was a time for the Spaniard to adjust and understand his bike.

"This is why we signed him. He is fast, he has experience, he is not a kid. So his job is to race for the top positions," said Puig.

Meanwhile, Pol Espargaro's Race Engineer, Ramon Aurin, saw that Repsol Honda's new motorbike would likely help the #44 owner.

"Pol needs a bit more rear grip, more stability at the rear. It looks like this bike will help him, and for him with the prototype, he feels already good. I hope in the upcoming tests we can re-confirm that we are heading in this direction," said Aurin.

Last year, according to Aurin, Espargaro had some problems, maybe also with the bike, so it was a bit difficult to achieve a good position in qualifying, which is important for MotoGP riders to fight for the podium.

"I think with the character of the bike and with the new parts that we have and will have, we can advance further in qualifying and start the race we have been fighting for the podium," said Aurin.
