Olivier Giroud's Double Goals Take AC Milan To Victory In The Derby Della Madonnina

JAKARTA – AC Milan managed to come out as winners in the Milan derby. Olivier Giroud became the star of the victory by scoring two goals to silence city rivals Inter Milan.

The match week 24 of the Italian Serie A 2021/2022 season will take place at AC Milan's headquarters, at the San Siro Stadium on Saturday, February 5 evening Indonesian Western Time (WIB). Ivan Perisic put the visitors ahead before Giroud pulled two back in just three minutes of the second half.

"I was very frustrated in the first half, as was the whole team because we didn't play well and we knew that. After the break we showed a great team spirit. We came back," Giroud said.

Perisic gave Inter the lead by breaking through the home defense after their goalkeeper Mike Maignan made two superb saves.

After playing badly in the first half, Milan managed to appear better in the second half. As a result, Giroud managed to equalize in the 75th minute followed by his second goal three minutes later.

This victory managed to cut the distance between the two clubs in the city. Milan trailed in second place standings with a collection of 52 points, while Inter still occupy the top position with only one point advantage.

"There is still a long way to go. We are in the race, but there are still many games left to play and Inter remain at the top," said Giroud.

For Inter this result is their second defeat of the season. Simone Inzaghi's team had previously tasted defeat when they met Lazio in October last year.
