Today's Weather, BMKG Predicts Rain In Various Areas

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) estimates that most parts of Indonesia will experience rain on Tuesday, with varying intensity, ranging from light rain to rain accompanied by lightning.

In a weather forecast video broadcast on the official BMKG YouTube channel on Tuesday morning, BMKG forecaster Eriska said that there are 20 areas that are expected to experience light rain.

"These areas include Tanjung Pinang in the Riau Islands; Pekanbaru, Riau; Pangkal Pinang, Bangka Belitung Islands; Lampung; and Jakarta," he said.

In addition, cities such as Semarang in Central Java; Surabaya, East Java; Yogyakarta; Bandung, West Java; Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB); and Samarinda, East Kalimantan, are also expected to experience light rain.

A similar forecast applies to Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan; Gorontalo; Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi; Makassar, South Sulawesi; Ternate, North Maluku; Manokwari and Sorong in West Papua; Jayapura, Papua; and Jayawijaya in Papua Mountains.

In addition to light rain, some areas are predicted to experience moderate rain, such as Bengkulu; Denpasar, Bali; Nabire, Central Papua; and Merauke, South Papua.

The areas that have the potential to be hit by rain accompanied by lightning or lightning include Aceh; Medan, North Sumatra; Palembang, South Sumatra; Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara; Pontianak, West Kalimantan; Palangkaraya, Central Kalimantan; Manado, North Sulawesi; and Mamuju, West Sulawesi.

BMKG also predicts that there will be thick cloudy weather conditions in four areas, namely Jambi; Serang, Banten; Palu, Central Sulawesi; and Ambon, Maluku.

Eriska also appealed to the public to continue to monitor weather information updates every three hours through the Info BMKG application, which can be downloaded on the App Store and Play Store.

"Apart from going through the application, the latest weather information can also be accessed through the official BMKG website at www.bmkg.go.id or social media @info.bmkg," he added.
