Commission II Letters To DPR Leaders To Susun Omnibus Law Politics

JAKARTA - Chairman of Commission II of the House of Representatives, Rifqinizamy Karsayuda, said that he had sent a letter to the leadership of the DPR and the Legislation Body (Baleg) of the DPR to draw up a package of political laws or Omnibus Law on politics.

Broadly speaking, Rifqinizamy explained that the Political Omnibus Law will regulate political parties, elections, regional elections, the MPR, the DPR, the DPRD, and the legal dispute over election events.

In addition, the DPR's experience of anything related to the political system will also be the material for drafting the law.

"We will certainly negotiate the political Omnibus Law internally, but in general, approximately the Political Omnibus Law is a package of laws," said Rifqinizamy as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, December 30.

He said Commission II of the DPR would also conduct a thorough evaluation of the implementation of the presidential election, legislative election, and regional elections, after entering the trial period in 2025.

According to him, the evaluation will produce various recommendations that will be used as material for compiling legislation.

"And we will carry out the evaluation at this time, long before 2029 and of course the results of the evaluation will produce various recommendations that will be important for Commission II of the DPR RI," he said.

During 2024, according to him, Commission II of the DPR received the most complaints related to election issues. Of the 495 complaints that came in during 2024, there were 201 complaints about elections, ranging from the presidential election, legislative election, to regional elections.

"The issues vary, ranging from ASN neutrality, neutrality of regional head officials, related to political money, related to hoax issues, sara and so on, including how to mobilize social assistance in several places," he said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman of Commission II of the DPR, Bahtra Banong, said that the election that had just been completed was still experiencing weaknesses. Of course, this will be addressed, including to discuss the election system options chosen by the DPRD.

"This is our material to continue to improve the evaluation, because of course after all, the change of leadership in provinces, or regencies, cities, how the change of leadership can prosper the community," said Bahtra.
