Deputy Minister of Transportation (Wamenhub) Suntana emphasized the importance of transportation safety at tourist sites to support smooth travel and prevent accidents for the convenience of tourists.

"We want to make sure that the vehicle used by the tourists is ready and has been ramped and checked, so it is roadworthy and avoids traffic accidents," said the Deputy Minister of Transportation in a statement in Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Saturday, December 28.

Suntana together with Kakorlantas Polri Aan Suhanan reviewed the readiness of traffic routes and transportation safety in the Prambanan Temple tourist area, Yogyakarta.

During the review, the Deputy Minister of Transportation together with the National Police Headquarters carried out a ramp check of vehicles including tourism buses, had a dialogue with tourists and drivers in the Prambanan tourist area. This activity is part of the supervision and evaluation of the readiness of Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 transportation.

Ramp check checks include brake conditions, tires, lights, and vehicle documents and the condition of the bus driver. This step also aims to prevent potential traffic accidents that often increase during the holiday period.

The Deputy Minister of Transportation appealed to the public to remain disciplined in traffic. The Deputy Minister of Transportation also appealed to bus entrepreneurs to prepare vehicles that are good for use as well as drivers who obey the rules.

"I appeal to the public to remain disciplined in driving. Bus entrepreneurs must pay attention to the feasibility of their vehicles and drivers must obey the applicable rules," said the Deputy Minister of Transportation.
