31 Roads Towards Sudirman-MH Thamrin Closed On New Year's Eve

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will implement traffic engineering in the Sudirman-MH Thamrin area to ensure the smooth running of New Year's Eve, Tuesday, December 31.

"To support New Year's Eve, traffic engineering will be carried out in the form of closing 31 road points from 18.00 to 02.00 WIB gradually and situationally, along with alternative routes for traffic flow diversion," said Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, quoting ANTARA, Sunday, December 29.

A series of New Year's celebration activities will also be held in a number of locations, namely Lapangan Banteng, Patung Kuda, in front of Sari Pacific, in front of the Japanese Embassy, in front of Plaza UOB, Dukuh Atas-JXB River, in front of Wisma Nugra Santana, in front of the WTC Building, in front of the Orient Hotel, SCBD, Fx Pintu 1 and in front of the Panin Bank.

Syafrin explained that as many as 31 roads that will be closed, namely, Jalan Jenderal Sudirman (starting from the Senayan Roundabout to the HI Roundabout), Jalan MH Thamrin (starting from the HI Roundabout to the Horse Statue Roundabout), and Jalan Pintu 1 Senayan.

Then, the slow lane of Semanggi ear (Gatot Subroto) on the west side, Jalan Bendungan Hilir, Jalan KH Mas Mansyur, Jalan Karet pasar baru Timur 5, Jalan Kupingan BNI 46, Jalan Kota Bumi and Jalan Baturaja and Jalan Teluk Betung.

Furthermore, Jalan Kebon Kacang, Jalan Sundanese, Jalan Imam Bonjol, Jalan Sumenep Tosari, Landmark (Indocement), Jalan Setiabudi, Jalan Prof Dr Satrio, Jalan Masjid (Sampoerna), Jalan Garnisun and Kolong Semanggi, as well as the east side of the Semanggi ear line (Gatot Subroto).

The closure will also be carried out in the SCBD area, Jalan Tulodong Atas 2/besides CIMB, Simpang Jalan Budi Kemuliaan and Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Jalan Kebon Sirih from the west/east to close at Simpang Agus Salim and Jalan KH Wahid Hasyim.

Furthermore, Jalan Majapahit, Jalan Veteran III, Jalan Veteran II, Simpang Jalan Medan Merdeka Timur-Jalan Medan Merdeka Utara, Simpang Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan-Jalan MI Ridwan Rais, and Simpang Jalan Perwira-Jalan Lapangan Banteng Barat.

His party also detailed a number of alternative routes that had been prepared when traffic diversion was carried out, namely as follows:

1. Traffic from South to North is diverted via Jalan Hang Lekir I-Jalan Hang Tuah-Jalan Hang Lekit IV-Jalan Hang Lekir II-Jalan Hang Lekit I-Jalan Asia Afrika-Jalan Pemuda-Jalan Gatot Subroto-Jalan KS Tubun-Jalan KH Mas Mansyur-Jalan Cideng-dst. Or it can be via Jalan HR Rasuna Said-Jalan Prof Dr Satrio-Jalan KH Mas Mansyur-dst. Or in the opposite direction (the south).

2. Traffic from North to South is diverted through Jalan Ir H Juanda-Paslan Pos-Jalan Gedung Kesenian-Jalan Lapangan Banteng Utara-Jalan Lapangan Banteng Barat-Jalan Pejambon-Jalan MI Ridwan Rais towards Rasuna Said-dst. Or it can be via Jalan Gunung Sahari-Jalan Kramat Raya-Jalan Salemba-Jalan Proklamasi-Jalan Tambak-Jalan Prof Dr Sahardjo, and so on.

3. Traffic from East (Jalan Batu) to West (Tanah Abang) can go through Jalan Medan Merdeka Timur-Jalan MI Ridwan Rais-rotating at Tugu Tani-Jalan MI Ridwan Rais-Jalan Medan Merdeka Timur-Jalan Perwira-Jalan Veteran-Jalan Suryapranoto-Jalan Balikpapan-Jalan Cideng Timur-Jalan Fachrudin-and so on and vice versa (east to west).

4. Traffic from West (RSPAD) to West (Tomang Raya) can go through Jalan Kramat Kwitang-rotating in the west-west round of Jalan Kramat Kwitang-Tugu Tani-Jalan MI Ridwan Rais-Jalan Medan Merdeka Timur-Jalan Perwira-Jalan Cathedral-Jalan Veteran-Jalan Suryapranoto-Jalan Balikpapan-Jalan Kyai Caringin-Jalan Tomang Raya-and so on.

Syafrin also added that to make it easier for people who want to celebrate the new year in the area, the Department of Transportation has provided 33 parking points in strategic locations.

"There are 33 parking locations for the 2024 New Year's Eve celebration activities around the event venue with 19,582 parking space units (SRP) for motorcycles, 21,503 car SRPs and 182 bus SRPs," he said.

A total of 33 locations of parking bags prepared for the celebration of New Year's Eve each, namely;

1. IRTI Monas Parking Court is available 350 SRP cars and 600 SRP motorbikes

2. Gambir Station area is available 315 SRP cars and 630 SRP motorbikes

3. National Resilience Institutional Areas are available 250 SRP cars and 300 SRP motorbikes

5. National Library Area is available 250 SRP cars and 300 SRP motorbikes

6. Telkom STO Gambir Building area is available 25 SRP cars and 50 SRP motorbikes

8. The Ministry of SOEs area is available 90 SRP cars and 900 SRP motorbikes

9. The Mutual Fund Tower Area is available 500 SRP cars and 200 SRP motorbikes

10. Indosat Building Area is available 60 SRP cars and 200 SRP motorbikes

Syafrin appealed to people who will attend New Year's Eve celebrations on Jalan MH Thamrin-Jalan Jenderal Sudirman-Lapagan Banteng to use public transportation modes, such as Transjakarta buses, MRT, LRT and commuter line.

This is so that the traffic density around the activity area can be minimized.

Long-distance train users who will go to Gambir Station are also asked to adjust their travel time.

"Road users must adjust the traffic arrangements set, comply with traffic signs, instructions from officers in the field, and prioritize road safety," he said.
