KAI Ensures Train Tickets Are Not Subjected To 12 Percent VAT

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI provides good news for loyal KAI Group users. Where the purchase of train tickets is not subject to an increase in value added tax (VAT) of 12 percent.

KAI Daop 1 Jakarta Public Relations Manager Ixfan Hendriwintoko said the trip by train remains economical and pocket-friendly because it is not affected by the 12 percent increase in VAT which will take effect from January 2025.

"Every government policy must have its purpose and purpose, the increase in VAT is also part of efforts so that subsidies for the community can be more targeted and evenly distributed. However, for public train tickets, there is no need to worry, train tickets are not subject to 12 percent VAT," said Ixfan in an official statement, Sunday, December 29.

Ixfan said that trains are the most comfortable and safe choice to travel or have an exciting vacation with friends and family.

"KAI continues to improve facilities and infrastructure at stations or a series of trains so that passengers feel comfortable while waiting at the station for departure and also feel comfortable, exciting and safe while on train trips," he said.

Meanwhile, Ixfan said, for now KAI Daop 1 Jakarta noted that it had dispatched more than 588 thousand passengers during the Christmas and New Year 2025 holidays from 19 December 2024 to 5 January 2025.

"Today, Saturday (December 28), KAI Daop 1 Jakarta has dispatched 645,895 passengers with details of KAJJ as many as 537,191 passengers and local trains as many as 72,704 passengers," he said.

Furthermore, Ixfan said the available seats were 296,369, namely at KAJJ there were 285,234 seats and 11,135 seats on local trains.

"The curves that are still available are dynamic for their availability during ticket sales for the Christmas and New Year 2025 period are still open and running," said Ixfan.
