33 Palm Oil Employees Allegedly Arrested, West Kalimantan Sekadau Regency Government Summons PT Bintang Sawit Lestari

PONTIANAK - The Sekadau Regency Government, West Kalimantan, summoned the management of PT Bintang Sawit Lestari (BSL) for questioning regarding the case of the confinement of a number of employees at the company. "This summons is a follow-up to the case of confinement at PT. BSL which is currently being handled by the Sekadau Police Criminal Investigation Unit. The Sekadau Police have evacuated 32 employees who are palm oil players at PT BSL," said Head of Manpower and Transmigration Division of the Sekadau Regency One Stop and Manpower Integrated Service Investment Service (MPTSPTK), Basuki Rahmat at the Sekadau Police, Antara, Wednesday, November 22. The employees who were held captive and successfully evacuated came from NTT, East Java, Central Java, and West Java. Basuki Rahmat said this incident was the first time this had happened so that his party hoped that a similar incident would not happen again in the future. He hopes that this case will serve as a warning for other companies to hire employees according to the rules. We will evaluate (PT BSL's permit), it will be considered again if they want to make an update. "When our members went to the crime scene there were about 32 people asking for help because they no longer felt at home working at the company," he said. Basuki said that at this time they had been taken to the Sekadau Police. "We are also coordinating with the local Manpower and Transmigration Office regarding this problem," he said.

"Furthermore, we will ask them whether they still want to work in West Kalimantan or want to return to their area of origin. Now, later the decision will be with the workers themselves, then we will coordinate with the relevant agencies," he said.
