Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (PMK) Muhadjir Effendy said as many as 11 people died from rabies in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

Data reported by the NTT Health Office to the Ministry of Health until November 15, 2023, rabies cases occurred as many as 1,823 cases.

"There were 1,823 cases of animal bites from rabies transmission in Timor Timor Selatan and Timor Timor Utara which caused 11 people to die," Muhadjir said at a press conference at the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture Office, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, November 21.

Muhadjir said, related to the results of the ministerial meeting (RTM), one of them discussed rabies cases in NTT.

According to Muhadjir, the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) will immediately determine the status of disaster management in certain parts as the basis for handling extraordinary events and rabies emergency in NTT Province.

Not only that, BNPB immediately formed an integrated task force for handling the rabies emergency in NTT at the request of the Governor of NTT.

Furthermore, BNPB uses ready-to-use funds to support the operation of the rabies handling and handling task force.

"Including the addition of vaccines and vaccine equipment, the equipment needed for rabies vaccination," he said.
