BBWS Bengawan Solo Is Ready To Face The Rainy Season

SOLO - Bengawan Solo River Basin Center (BBWS) is ready to face the rainy season by alerting personnel and completing supporting equipment.

"This is related to the preparedness of the Bengawan Solo river area. We are synergizing with the TNI/Polri, relevant agencies, academics to jointly face disasters with mitigation, report, emergency response, and coordinate for the future permanent handling," said Head of BBWS Bengawan Solo, Maryadi Utama after the Bengawan Solo River disaster preparedness meeting in 2023-2024 at the BBWSBS Pabelan Building yard, Sukoharjo Regency, reported by ANTARA, Monday, November 20.

He said preparedness apples are carried out regularly every year, especially when entering the rainy season.

"Therefore, we are ready to face the rainy season. Moreover, last February in Surakarta City there was a flood. Well, we are dealing with the development assistant on how to clean up so that the water entering Bengawan Solo will run smoothly. We are trying to prevent inundation in February," he said.

Some of the vulnerable points that need to be watched out for include the overflowing of the Genting river in Klaten Regency and the tributaries of Bengawan Solo, namely the Samin River and several other rivers.

"There are also some in the downstream area, namely in Bojonegoro, Lamongan and Tuban. We have prepared command post points (posko0 flood control," he said.

There are 1,700 personnel on standby which are divided into the upstream, central and downstream parts.

"If there are six posts, starting from upstream in Solo to Tuban," he said.

In addition, his party has also prepared a number of equipment that can be operated in the event of inundation, including a bag, 17 excavators, Pam cars, standing pumps, truck dams, and pumps when there is a flood of puddles.
