RIAU - Pekanbaru District Attorney (Kejari) has released a suspect in a theft case through restorative justice. This legal process follows the mediation between the suspect and the victim who was mediated by the prosecutor. The Head of the Pekanbaru Kejari (Kajari) Asep Sontani Sunarya said the victim apologized and promised not to repeat it so that his party submitted a request to stop prosecution of cases based on restorative justice. "We have issued a Decree on the Termination of Cases (SKP2) based on restorative justice on behalf of the suspect Septian Susanto (23), where the suspect is suspected of violating Article 362 of the Criminal Code," said Kajari, Thursday, November 16, confiscated by Antara. Suspect Septian who was in prison for more than two months finally returned to breathing free air on Wednesday, November 16. Septian was previously detained at the Senapelan Sector Police Headquarters detention center on suspicion of stealing an iPhone 12 Pro Max cell phone unit belonging to Farhan Abdillah. It is known that Septian had brought the item to the cellphone counter with the aim that the "iCloud" of the smartphone would open its key. However, his wish was rejected by the counter.

When he was about to return the device to his owner, he was instead arrested by members of the Senapelan Police for further investigation. Long story short, the case file was declared complete based on the research of the Public Prosecutor (JPU) at the Pekanbaru District Attorney (Kejari). Furthermore, the suspect and evidence were transferred to the Public Prosecutor or Phase II on November 2, 2023. On that occasion, Asep congratulated Septian and advised not to commit a crime in the future. In the same place, Septian could not hide his happiness after receiving the SKP2 and the prison vest was opened. He immediately prostrated his gratitude. "I am very happy. I am happy to see my family again. When I was arrested, my family did not know at all. For 2 months, 13 days in prison, the family did not know," he said.
