JAKARTA - The Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs recorded significant growth from the contribution of local products in National Online Shopping Day (Harbolnas).

The program, which took place from December 10 to 16, was able to print a total transaction of IDR 31.2 trillion with an average spending per person reaching IDR 318,000 from 97 million subscribers.

Spokesperson for the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy Haryo Limanseto said this achievement had increased by around 21.4 percent compared to the total transactions in 2023 which scored IDR 25.7 trillion.

"Local products are also able to dominate overall sales with a portion of 52 percent and with a transaction value of Rp. 16.1 trillion or an increase of around 31 percent," he said in a statement to the media, Saturday, December 28.

In this event, there were 407 participating participants ranging from merchants (mechants), online retailers, to local market service providers. This year's Harbolnas event is also the highest achievement for newly onboarding sellers compared to the pre-pandemic period.

"We are optimistic that with strong collaboration between the Government, business actors, and the community, the target of economic growth through the consumption sector can be achieved. Harbolnas is clear evidence that community spending activities have also become levers in an effort to achieve the economic growth target," said Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto.

Airlangga said that significant growth in the contribution of local products is a positive indicator of Harbolnas' future potential. This also reflects an increase in consumer awareness to continue to support domestic products through the e-commerce platform. The Harbolnas program, he said, is expected to continue to show a role in encouraging people's purchasing power while supporting local products in order to be able to compete in the domestic and international markets.

In an effort to create a strong market for domestic products, the Government continues to encourage promotions and campaigns so that people prefer local products. When the market for local products is formed, supply will follow automatically. This step can also help reduce dependence on imported products," said Airlangga.
