The Judicial Commission (KY) will investigate the alleged violation of the Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct of Judges (KEPPH) behind Harvey Moeis' 6.5-year decision in the alleged corruption case in the management of tin commodity trading in the Mining Business Permit (IUP) area at PT Timah Tbk for the 2015-2022 period.

This step was taken in response from the public who considered the verdict too light for the defendants who had caused state losses of Rp. 300 trillion.

"KY will also investigate the decision of the Central Jakarta District Court to see if there are any alleged violations (KEPPH) that occurred," said KY spokesman Mukti Fajar Nur Dewata as quoted on Saturday, December 28.

However, in the process, KY will not enter the realm of the substance of the verdict. This is because the forum is appropriate to strengthen or change the decision, namely through appeal legal remedies.

In addition, KY also invites the public to report if they find an alleged violation of the judge's code of ethics in this case. So, it will be followed up later.

"KY requested that the report be accompanied by supporting evidence so that it can be processed," said Mukti.

Harvey Moeis was found guilty in a corruption case in the management of tin commodity trading. Thus, the panel of judges sentenced him to 6.5 years in prison.

"The defendant was sentenced to 6 years and 6 months in prison," said the judge.

This criminal sentence is lighter than the prosecutor's demands. Because, at the previous trial, the prosecutor charged Harvey Moeis with imprisonment for 12 years.

However, the judge also imposed a fine on Sandra Dewi's husband in the amount of Rp. 1 billion.

"A fine of Rp. 1 billion, provided that if the fine is not paid, it will be replaced with imprisonment for 6 months," said the judge.

In his ruling, the judge also sentenced Harvey Moeis to pay compensation for state losses caused by corruption.

If Sandra Dewi's husband does not have the ability, then her assets will be confiscated and auctioned off to pay or replace the state's losses.

"Punishing the defendant to pay compensation for state financial losses amounting to Rp210 billion," said the judge.
