Waiting For Firli Bahuri To Keep His Promise On The Examination Of The Metro Police Today

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri is scheduled to undergo additional examinations as a witness in the alleged extortion case against the former Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo or SYL, today.

The examination later is the result of rescheduling. This is because Firli was absent on the grounds of official duties on November 7.

"(The examination) is scheduled for an additional examination or request for information on Tuesday, November 14, 2023," said Director of Special Criminal Investigation at the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Ade Safri Simanjuntak, to reporters, Monday, October 13.

However, until now it is not certain whether Firli will fulfill the summons to attend to provide information at Polda Metro Jaya, at 10.00 WIB.

Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Karyoto was questioned about the possibility of Firli's presence under investigation. However, the two-star general could not be sure.

"The basis for the call tomorrow, we'll see if it comes tomorrow or not," said Karyoto.

Meanwhile, regarding Firli Bahuri, who also has an agenda for examination at the KPK Supervisory Council (Dewas) on the same day, Karyoto could not comment much.

It was only conveyed that he would confirm it first with investigators from the Corruption Sub-Directorate of the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate regarding this matter.

"Later, I will ask the Dirkrimsus, we have not coordinated with the Council. If those who are really insulated from the Metro Police for tomorrow's call," said Karyoto.

Meanwhile, before the examination scheduled for today was announced, Firli Bahuri had emphasized that he would not be absent or avoid summons for examination from the Polda Metro Jaya.

Firli Bahuri made this statement to reporters after participating in the KPK Bus roadshow and road to Hakordia 2023 at the Meuseuraya Aceh (BMA) Hall, in Banda Aceh.

"So there is no word avoiding (the examination at Polda Metro Jaya) or anything, nothing," said Firli.

The chairman of the KPK emphasized that he would face all ongoing legal processes. "I will face all of them," he said.

As a reminder, the temporary development of the investigation into the alleged extortion case against Syahrul Yasin Limpo, Polda Metro Jaya has examined around 70 witnesses.

Not only witnesses, in an effort to resolve this alleged extortion case, investigators also asked for information from five experts.

The experts are, one micro expression expert, three criminal law experts, and one procedural law expert.

In this case, it is suspected that there was a criminal act of Article 12 letter e, Article 12 letter B and or Article 11 of the Corruption Act Junto Article 65 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code.
