Former Head Of PUPR Papua Charged With Accepting Bribes And Gratifications Of IDR 2.5 Billion

JAKARTA - Former Head of the Papua Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency (Kadis PUPR), Gerius One Yoman, was charged with accepting bribes and gratuities totaling Rp2,595,507,228.00.

"The receipt was to mobilize the defendant and Lukas Enembe to provide a project or work for the procurement of goods and services at the PUPR Office of Papua Province in the 2018-2022 fiscal year to Rijatono Lakka," said public prosecutor (JPU) Creative Loserte Tramanggal Kayuda in a trial. indictment at the Jakarta Corruption Court reported by ANTARA, Monday, November 13.

According to the prosecutor, the defendant committed or participated in several acts that should be seen as independent acts so that they constitute several crimes, receiving gifts or promises.

In the indictment trial, the Public Prosecutor charged Gerius One Yoman with Lukas Enembe to receive payment based on the percentage value of the project or work.

"Lukas Enembe as Governor of Papua with code 01 is 10 percent of the contract value, the defendant Gerius One Yoman with the code Kadis is 2.5 percent to 5 percent of the contract value," prosecutor Greafik Lonerte Tramanggal Kayuda.

The former Head of PUPR also received items in the form of an apartment unit in Central Jakarta along with household equipment.

For his actions, Gerius was charged with Article 12 Letter ajuncto Article 11 jo. and Article 12B jo. Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law no. 20 of 2001 jo. Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code jo. Article 65 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code.

Previously, former Papua Governor Lukas Enembe had been sentenced to 8 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 500 million, subsidiary to 4 months in prison for compensation by the panel of judges at the Central Jakarta District Court Corruption Court in cases of bribery and gratification.

"The defendant Lukas Enembe was sentenced to 8 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 500 million provided that if the fine was not paid, it would be replaced with imprisonment for 4 months," said Chief Judge Rianto Adam Pontoh reading out the verdict at the Jakarta Corruption Court, Thursday (19/10).
