JAKARTA - The Papua Mountains Provincial Democratic Care Forum Alliance again held a demonstration in front of the General Election Commission (KPU) of the Republic of Indonesia on Jalan Imam Bonjol, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Friday, November 10.

The crowd urged the Indonesian KPU to take over the selection process for members of the KPU of Tolikara and Yahukimo Regencies who were deemed not in accordance with the procedure and took sides with one interest.

This is the second time the Papuan Mountains Provincial Democracy Care Forum has visited the Indonesian KPU regarding its complaints. This time, the masses admitted that they were upset because the report had not been responded to some time ago.

Representative from Tolikara Regency, Abini Kogoya hopes that the Indonesian KPU can immediately take over from a South Timorese position.

"Secondly, the KPU canceled the South Timor itself and the results of the verification announcement began from scratch. As well as re-re-recruiting," Abini told reporters at the location, Friday, November 10.

He said that if the Indonesian KPU did not act immediately, it was feared that horizontal conflicts would occur in the Papua Province of the Mountains.

"Because of the hope that most of our friends in Papua are waiting for us to return home and the results of returning from the Indonesian KPU. If we go home, we don't bring good results, there will definitely be friction among the community," he said.

He also mentioned that if up to the following stage there is no good response by the Indonesian KPU, the national election agenda in the Papua Province of the Mountains will be boycotted and no participants will participate.

The crowd also blocked roads and pushed the Indonesian KPU fence because they were not satisfied that the action did not receive the expected response.

The coordinator of the action, Usman Koggaya, said that if the KPU did not act immediately, the problem could lead to a horizontal conflict.

"The selection team's work is not in accordance with existing procedures and mechanisms. It also favors a group interest which will result in a horizontal conflict," said Usman at the Indonesian KPU.
