AMBON - Maluku Regional Police (Polda) reminded personnel in the Task Force (Satgas) of Great Operation BrataSalawaku 2023-2024 not to enter the offices of political parties (parpol) while securing the stages of the 2024 General Election.

The directive was conveyed by the Head of the Bureaucratic Reform Division of the National Police (RBP) Bureau of Rena Polda Maluku AKBP R. Ferdinandus while leading the meeting on readiness to carry out the tasks of the Great Operations Task Force BrataSalawaku 2023-2024 personnel at the Lt. Col. Pol Chr. Field. Stageary, Ambon City, Monday, November 6.

"In accordance with the telegram of the National Police Chief regarding the prohibition of entering the office of political parties or winning posts, the Head of Sub-Satgas and Operations personnel of Brata Salawaku 2023-2024 no longer need to enter the offices and winning posts of political parties," Ferdinandus said as quoted by ANTARA.

The Head of Analysis and Evaluation of the Great Operation Brata Salawaku2023-2024 said the ban was carried out so that the Police would not look like they were sided with one of the parties or candidate pairs.

He gave an example of the incident at the Pasuruan Police Station, East Java, their intention (personnel) was to convey the call and appeal for peace and socialization, but to be twisted by irresponsible people who stated on social media that the Police sided with one party or candidate pair.

To avoid this, Ferdinandus said the leadership of the National Police had ordered that the plan be changed to show more neutrality of the Police.

"As members of the National Police, we must not show partiality to one of the parties or the existing pair of candidates. We continue to maintain that there should be no negative perceptions or issues given to us, especially the Task Force which carries out operations. For this reason, we continue to maintain the neutrality of Polri members in securing the 2024 General Election," he asked.

Ferdinandus also asked that if there are close family such as parents or wives who are legislative candidates, then as members of the National Police must remain neutral.

"Don't let us get involved in practical politics which in the end will lose money to ourselves," he said.
