Inviting Donald Trump to Ukraine, President Zelensky: Explain He Can't Control This War

JAKARTA - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky asked the United States to provide more funds to help his troops fight Russia, inviting former President Donald Trump to fly in to see for himself the scale of the conflict on the battlefield.

President Zelensky said American troops could eventually be drawn into a larger European conflict with Russia if Washington does not increase its support.

"If Russia is going to kill us all, they will attack NATO countries and you will send your sons and daughters (to fight)," President Zelensky said on NBC's 'Meet the Press' on Sunday, as quoted by Reuters November 6.

It is known that President Joe Biden, who comes from the Democratic Party, has urged the US Congress to pass an additional spending bill of US $ 106 billion. Most of the funds will be used to improve Ukraine's defense. The remainder will be spread to Israel, the Indo-Pacific and border enforcement.

However, the US House of Representatives, led by the Republican Party, instead proposed its own funding plan. Last week, the country passed a bill providing 14.3 billion in aid to Israel, but no increase for Ukraine.

US Senator Chuck Schumer, the majority leader of the Democratic-controlled Senate, said he would not bring the bill to a vote, while President Biden has vowed to veto the bill.

Meanwhile, in an interview broadcast on Sunday, President Zelensky invited former US President Donald Trump, who is a Republican, to visit Ukraine and see the impact of the conflict initiated by Russian President Vladimir Putin in February 2022.

Trump, who is seeking re-election in 2024 and is the strongest candidate so far in his party's presidential nomination, has been highly critical of Uncle Sam's support for Kyiv, saying he could end the war within 24 hours if re-elected.

"If he could come here, it would take me 24 minutes to explain to President Trump, he can't control this war," said President Zelensky.

"He cannot bring peace because of Putin," he said.
