CIANJUR - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) recorded dozens of tents belonging to earthquake survivors in a number of villages in Cianjur damaged by heavy rains accompanied by strong winds.

Head of BPBD Cianjur Regency Asep Sukma Wijaya said that currently his party is still collecting data and immediately making repairs so that tents are returned to their homes because more than 20 families have been forced to flee to mosques and neighboring houses.

"The damaged tent was swept away by the wind and the roof of the tarpaulin was leaking, so the flood recalled the inside of the tent. Temporary notes of 31 tents damaged in a number of villages in Cianjur and Cugenang sub-districts were in the repair stage," he said in Cianjur, West Java, Wednesday, November 1, confiscated by Antara.

Data collection is still being carried out, he continued, because information on more than 31 damaged tents, especially at the top, which still uses tarpaulins.

For this reason, Asep said BPBD would send hundreds of tarpaulins to repair tents until residents could rebuild their homes.

It is recorded that until now, only a small number of residents are still standing in the tent because they are waiting for a budget from the Central Government phase IV. They will also be relocated to the relocation housing phase III which was just built in Babakan Karet Village, Cianjur District.

"We will complete the repair of the damaged tents because since the last week the rainfall has started to rise and residents are still relying on living in the tent. We also ask the Central Government to immediately distribute phase IV stimulant assistance," he said.

Meanwhile, about 20 families were forced to flee to a mosque in Cugenang District because the tarpaulin, which was the roof of the tent for the past eleven months, was torn by heavy rain accompanied by strong winds, and even several tents collapsed by the wind.

"We cannot do much because of natural factors, so we are forced to flee to the mosque or madrasa when it rains heavily. We hope that the stimulant assistance to rebuild collapsed houses can be disbursed immediately," said the survivor in Cijedil Village, Cugenang District, Aditia.

The same thing was said from earthquake survivors in Nagrak Village, Cianjur District, who were still filling emergency tents because they were waiting for the construction of an unfinished relocation house, and were forced to flee to his relatives' homes when heavy rains fell again in the evening.

"The tents that we have lived in have been damaged by rain and strong winds a few days ago. Even though they have been repaired, when it rains again we choose to ride at relatives or neighbors' houses because the floor of the tents is flooded," said the survivor in Nagrak Village, Rojali.
