JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission II of the DPR from the PDIP faction, Junimart Girsang, questioned the General Elections Commission regarding the validity of KPU Regulation (PKPU) Number 19 of 2023 during the registration of prospective presidential candidates and presidential candidates on 19 October 2023.

"I don't question the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK), but I want concrete answers from the KPU. Whether the PKPU Number 19/2023 is still valid or not, whether Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections is still valid," he said in a meeting with opinions reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, October 31.

Previously, the KPU had stipulated KPU Regulation (PKPU) Number 19 of 2023 concerning Candidates for the Presidential and Vice Presidential Elections. The KPU also stipulates the requirements for prospective presidential and vice presidential candidates. "This needs to be explained so that people who care about elections are not confused," Junimart hoped.
