Not Quickly Checking Firli Regarding Meeting With SYL, KPK Council: Police Examination Still Running

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Tumpak Hatorangan Panggabean said that the examination of KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri regarding alleged ethical violations due to meeting former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo was still in accordance with the rescheduling on November 8.

"There has been no update yet, he said it's the 8th (November, ed). So it hasn't been (checked, red) yet," said Tumpak to reporters at the ACLC building, Rasuna Said, Jakarta, Tuesday, October 31.

Tumpak said that his party would not rush to examine Firli. This is because the process at Polda Metro Jaya is still ongoing today.

"Currently, the police are also investigating allegations of extortion by the KPK leadership against Syahrul. "(Why is it not accelerated, red) the investigation is still ongoing at the regional police there," he said.

"It doesn't matter, we don't chase. It's normal," continued Tumpak.

Previously reported, the KPK Council clarified the KPK leadership, namely Nurul Ghufron, Johanis Tanak and Alexander Marwata. Of the three, they were investigated about the alleged extortion related to the handling of the alleged corruption case at the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture.

"In general, related to allegations of extortion and clarification related to photos, that's all the questions are. Regarding the extortion, I don't know what happened," said Alex at the ACLC Building, Rasuna Said, South Jakarta, Monday, October 30.

Meanwhile, KPK Chairman Firli has not yet been examined by the KPK Council. He asked for a postponement until November 8 without giving a clear reason even though he was in the office.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Nawawi Pomolango, has not been able to provide information because he is sick. The report on alleged ethical violations of the Firli and Syahrul meeting was conveyed by the Law Concerned Student Committee on Friday, October 6.
