Gerindra Says Erick Thohir Will Not Enter The Prabowo-Gibran Campaign Team Structure

JAKARTA - The Gerindra Party said that SOE Minister Erick Thohir would not be included in the structure of the Prabowo-Gibran National Campaign Team (TKN). The reason is, Erick still has to focus on the tasks assigned by President Joko Widodo.

This was conveyed by the Secretary General of Gerindra Ahmad Muzani at the DPR building, Tuesday, October 31.

Initially, Muzani revealed about the meeting of the presidential candidate for the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM) who is also the general chairman, Prabowo Subianto and the chairman of PSSI. According to him, Prabowo-Erick only discussed the development of government and the steps that would be taken as ministers in the Jokowi-Ma'ruf Amin government cabinet.

"Of course that's what is being discussed," said Muzani.

Muzani did not deny that Prabowo-Erick also talked about the 2024 presidential election. He ensured that Erick Thohir would be in the line of supporters of the Paslon presidential and vice presidential candidates, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming.

"Of course, what is expected is to talk about the presidential election. I think it's the 2024 presidential election, so God willing, Erick Thohir will not go anywhere," he said.

Muzani then said that Erick Thohir would not be included in the structure of the Prabowo-Gibran winning team. Erick, he said, has been assigned by the President to take care of work in the government.

"Maybe Mr. Erick will concentrate on the duties of the government as assistant to the president. Meanwhile, TKN will be carried out by people who have more time to take care of political work in the winning team for the presidential election," explained Muzani.

Including, Investment Minister Bahlil Lahadalia who was previously appointed as deputy chairman of TKN Prabowo-Gibran. Muzani said Bahlil would also concentrate on the duties of the government as an assistant to the president.

"So that Mr. Bahlil certainly no longer occupies important positions in the presidential winning team," said the deputy chairman of the MPR.

"Because the minister is not included in the structure, of course because of the ministerial position. And we hope that the duties of the government carried out by him as an assistant to President Jokowi will not be reduced, not disturbed by concentration and time to provide government services," added Muzani.
