Arrest 59 Terrorists, Detachment 88 Seize AK47 Guns To Explosives

JAKARTA - The National Police's Anti-terror Detachment 88 arrested 59 terrorism suspects during October 2023. From these arrests, several firearms (senpi) and explosives were also confiscated.

"Along with that, a search and confiscation of evidence in the form of 1 AK47 firearm has been carried out," said Densus 88 Anti-terror Spokesperson Kombes Aswin Siregar to reporters, Tuesday, October 31.

Unsenpi AK47, Densus 88 also confiscated the Revolver and PCP air rifle. Then, there are also several sharp weapons.

"Some of the other weapons, including the PCP, were used for air rifles, then sharp weapons, then one revolver and 17 ammunition for revolvers," he said.

In fact, a number of explosives were also confiscated. Some bookprints and propaganda tools were also found and used as evidence.

"Densus also confiscated chemicals for making explosives such as sulfur, then salt healaya which is usually used to replace HCL for explosives," said Aswin.

Dozens of terrorist suspects were arrested in several parts of Indonesia. They are a group of Jemaah Islamiyah (JI), Jemaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD), and Anshor Daulah (AD).

From the results of the investigation, 40 terrorism suspects were of the JAD group. They plan to thwart the 2024 General Election (Pemilu) process.

"This is an AU leadership group called activities planned by this group to thwart or disrupt the running of the election democracy party," said Aswin.
