Today's MKMK Session: Anwar Usman-Saldi Isra 'Checked' Jimly Cs

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Honorary Council of the Constitutional Court (MKMK) Jimly Asshiddiqie said his party held two hearings today on reports of alleged violations of the code of ethics of constitutional judges in the Constitutional Court's Decision Number 90/PUU-XXI/2023.

"There are two types of hearings that will be held, namely an open trial to examine the complainant and a closed trial to examine the judge. The reporting hearing is in the morning at 9.00. The trial for the judge is at night," said Jimlyusai at a closed meeting with nine constitutional judges at the Constitutional Court building, Jakarta, reported by ANTARA, Monday, October 30.

He explained that during the open trial, MKMK provided opportunities for the expert staff of the reported judges and applicants to attend.

The first trial for the reporter will be attended by Denny Indrayana as well as 16 professors and teachers of constitutional law and state administrative law who are members of the Constitutional and Administrative Law Society (CALS) as reporters.

"The one in the morning, tomorrow, one, Prof. Denny; two, the 16 professors. Well, we are combining this because the substance is the same," added Jimly.

Meanwhile, regarding the reported party, Jimly scheduled two judges from the Constitutional Court, namely Anwar Usman and Saldi Isra, to undergo trial at night.

Jimly emphasized that the nine constitutional judges will undergo individual examinations to provide reports of their experiences regarding alleged violations of the code of ethics.

"So, after the nine, there will be a separate examination so that they are free to convey everything they have experienced," he said.

Until now, the Constitutional Court has received two additional reports related to alleged violations of the code of ethics of the Constitutional Court judges.

"So, now there are 18 reports, two more reports have been added today. Of the 18, there are six issues. Then, there are nine (chiefs) reported; but (reports) are the most important, most importantly, at most Mr. Anwar Usman," said Jimly.
