Police Detain Drunk Driver Hits Motorcyclist To Death In Jayapura

Jayapura City Police Chief Kombes Victor Mackbon admitted that investigators from the Jayapura City Police Traffic Unit are currently detaining AM (59 years old), a driver who was suspected of being drunk, causing a series of collisions that killed two motorcyclists.

The successive collisions that caused the deaths occurred on Sunday night, October 29 at the T-junction with the Jayapura City National Land Agency (BPN) office in Kotaraja, Abepura District.

"Currently AM has been detained to account for his actions that caused two deaths," said Jayapura City Police Chief Kombes Mackbon, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, October 30.

Jayapura City Police Chief accompanied by Traffic Head Kompol Dian Novita Pietersz explained that AM while driving his vehicle with police number PA 1475 DT was suspected of being drunk after consuming alcoholic beverages.

The incident began when a car driven by AM came from the ring road bridge to a new road, the autonomous market at high speed and was affected by alcoholic beverages so that when they arrived at the scene suddenly lost control and hit both motorbikes from behind, causing the two motorcyclists to fall.

"After crashing, the car lost control and overturned," said Head of Traffic Police Commissioner Dian, adding that as a result, two people died, namely Etayun, a passenger of SPM Honda CRF who breathed his last at the TKP and Yusak, a Honda CB 150 R SPM driver who died while on his way to the hospital when he was evacuated., "explained Kompol Dian.

He added that the victims who died were Etayun (25 years old) who was riding very heavily using a motorcycle with police numbers DS 1389 RM and Yusak, a motorcycle rider whose vehicle did not have a license plate.

Meanwhile, the DS 1389 RM motorcycle driver survived with injuries to several parts of his body and is now being treated at the hospital, said Kompol Dian.
