Indicator Survey: PDIP Electability Depends On Jokowi

JAKARTA - The results of a survey by Indonesian Political Indicators stated that the electability of the PDI-P depends on President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) because the higher the level of trust in Jokowi, the positive impact on support for the party bearing the white-nosed bull symbol.

Peneliti Utama Indicator Politik Indonesia Burhanuddin Muhtadi dalam penaparan hasil survei secara virtual, mengatakan sejatinya ada dua alasan utama yang melatarakuli dukungan publik untuk PDI Perjuangan.

"The first reason is because they are used to choosing parties. The second is because they like Jokowi," said Burhanuddin as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, October 26.

For respondents who stated the reason for being used to choosing the PDI-P, the figure reached 28.4 percent which was taken from the base of 16.8 percent respondents. Meanwhile, for reasons of liking Jokowi, the figure reached 23.9 percent which was taken from the 7.5 percent respondents' base.

Burhanuddin explained that PDIP was the highest party to receive public support, reaching 25.2 percent. Following in second place, Gerindra with 14.5 percent and Golkar perched in third place with 9.4 percent.

In addition, Indonesian Political Indicators also found public perceptions that chose the PDI-P because they liked the general chairman, namely Megawati Soekarnoputri.

"From the base of 0.7 percent, only 2.2 percent of those who chose PDIP because they liked Megawati," said Burhanuddin.

On the other hand, continued Burhanuddin, support for the PDI-P has increased in the latest survey findings, because the Indicator survey on October 2, 2023 found support for the PDI-P to be at 22.3 percent.

The Indicator Survey was conducted on 16-20 October 2023, placing 2.567 respondents with a margin of error of around 1.97 percent at a confidence level of 95 percent.

The selected respondents were interviewed face-to-face by interviewers who had been trained. The results of the interview were conducted by a random quality control of 20 percent of the total sample by supervisors and no significant errors were found.
