Gibran Banks Issues Joining Golkar: I'm Here Continue, Just Write It's Not True

Surakarta Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka dismissed an issue stating that he would join the Golkar Party ahead of the 2024 General Election.

"You know, I keep on trying (I'm here all the time). Triulen is not true (written just not true)," he said in Solo, Central Java, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, October 19.

Gibran refused to respond when asked if his name came out at the upcoming Golkar Party Rapimnas.

"I'm getting excited," he said.

Gibran was widely rumored to have joined the Golkar Party through the membership of the Indonesian Renewal Youth Force (AMPI) which is a community organization under the Golkar Party.

Regarding the statement by the General Chair of the Golkar Party, Airlangga Hartarto, regarding young people suitable for wearing yellow clothes, Gibran spoke diplomatically.

"I wear any color clothes, it fits," he said.

Related to this, the Secretary of the DPD II of the Surakarta Golkar Party, Taufiqurrahman, said that until now there has been no official clue from the center.

"There have been no official instructions, orders, announcements about that. We are still waiting to see the extent of the truth of the issue," he said.

However, Taufiq admitted that this was the domain of the Golkar Party's DPP to decide.

"Just wait, we are waiting for the DPP, the presidential and vice-presidential candidates are with the DPP. On Saturday there will be an announcement," he said.
