BANDUNG - Bandung City Regional Secretary (Sekda) Ema Sumarna said the current number of Waste-Free Areas (KBS) shows a positive trend. From August 2023, KBS continued to grow from 234 to 272.
"I have seen the movement even though it is not yet massive, but the movement is already there. RT and RW have seen the commitment, all stakeholders in urban villages, sub-districts are also quite good," said Ema in Bandung, Antara, Thursday, October 12.
Ema said KBS in Bandung City will continue to strive to increase with various programs and assistance carried out by the Bandung City Government (Pemkot).
He stated that he would continue to monitor the development of waste management in the region.
Ema further asked the sub-district and village heads to be able to mobilize all stakeholders in the region to jointly present new waste-free areas.
"I continue to move to monitor the progress of handling in the area how the sub-district and village heads mobilize stakeholders there,” he said.
He added that currently commitment to reduce and manage independent waste has been present in various levels of society and hopes that this potential waste can sell economically.
"Hopefully it can be measured that the volume of waste is reduced and waste is also present to present economic potential," he said.
Ema said she was optimistic that commitment and consistency, as well as communal awareness, could present the City of Bandung as a Zero Waste City.
"We both love this city by presenting a garbage-free city and it's not hard if communal awareness arises. Don't be lax, so that little by little we can solve the city's problems," said Ema.
