MERAUKE - Head of the Expert Staff Group of Kodam XVII/Cenderawasih, Brigadier General TNI Ahmad Fauzi, said that South Papua Province is the only new autonomous region (DOB) free of nokens.

"It is true that in the 2024 simultaneous elections, South Papua, where thousands of Merauke cities are the only provinces in the XVII/Cenderawasih Kodam area that do not use the noken system," he said, in Merauke, South Papua, as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, October 11.

"In addition to South Papua, the DOB in the XVII/Cenderawasih Kodam area is Papua Mountains, which are thousands of cities of Wamena and Central Papua, thousands of cities of Nabire," he said.

By not using the noken system, areas in the south of Tanah Papua are also relatively safe from disturbances by armed groups.

However, there is one district that is of concern considering that in 2019 it heated up during the election, namely Boven Digul Regency.

"We hope that the security situation in South Papua remains conducive so that the simultaneous election process is safe without obstacles," he said.

According to him, the area of Kodam XVII/Cenderawasih is included in the red category related to the 2024 General Election, except for those in South Papua Province which are in the yellow category.

The red areas of Kodam XVII/Cenderawasih are caused by several factors including money politics, black campaigns, ASN neutrality and security forces, DPT problems, independentness and professionalism of the organizers as well as geographical conditions and distribution channels.

"In addition, it is also caused by vulnerabilities caused by the existence and actions of security disturbances carried out by the KKB," he said. Areas of Kodam XVII/Cenderawasih include Papua Province, Papua Province, Mountains, Central Papua Province, and South Papua Province.
