Vice President Ma'ruf Discusses Human Resources Needs To Expansion Of Regions In Papua

JAYAPURA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin discussed the fulfillment of human resources (HR), education, security, and regional expansion in Papua in coordination meetings to accelerate economic development and welfare.

"I listened to the views, suggestions, suggestions from the Papuan community group," said Vice President Ma'ruf in a press conference after a coordination meeting at the Papua Governor's office, Jayapura, reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, October 10.

The activity was carried out by the Vice President together with Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin and Deputy Minister of Home Affairs John Wempi Wetipo in a series of meetings with a number of human rights activists, religious leaders, and businessmen on the second day he was based in Papua.

At a meeting with human rights activists, Vice President Ma'ruf received input about security issues along with a number of strategies that need to be pursued by the government.

After a closed dialogue with human rights activists for 45 minutes, the Vice President continued his work agenda by hearing the aspirations of indigenous Papuan businessmen about the implementation of their activities.

"There are complaints of obstacles they face, because entrepreneurs are important as government partners to build the economy and the welfare of the community," he said.

In the afternoon, all the aspirations were brought by the Vice President at a coordination meeting in the meeting room of the Papua Governor's Building involving the Acting Governor of West Papua, the Acting Governor of Papua, the Acting Governor of South Papua, the Acting Governor of Central Papua, the Acting Governor of Papua Mountains, and the Secretary of the Provincial of Southwest Papua.

The coordination meeting also discusses strategies for accelerating infrastructure in four New Autonomous Regions (DOB) along with obstacles faced by local governments in order to build a government to complement the personnel element.

The four new provinces are the Provinces of South Papua, Central Papua, Papua Mountains and Southwest Papua which have been inaugurated since 2022.

The Vice President also reviewed the need for human resources to improve the quality of education and increase the acceleration of education through the appointment of teachers.

"Because many teachers have not been appointed, they are generally teachers who graduated from high school with certain conditions," he said.

Regarding the expansion of the region, the Vice President through the report of the Acting Governor of Papua, the Nikolaus Kondomo Mountains, confirmed that there were no significant problems in the expansion.

"From the report in the meeting, according to the Acting Governor, there is no problem and everything has been resolved," he said.
