Arrest 1 Car Thief, Police Arrest 2 Thieves In Rejang Lebong

The Rejang Lebong Police have arrested two perpetrators of theft of four-wheeled motorized vehicles and dozens of motorcycles operating in the area.

Head of Public Relations of the Rejang Lebong Police, Iptu Sinar Simanjuntak, said that the disclosure of the theft of four-wheeled vehicles and motorbikes was carried out by the Curup Police.

"The disclosure of this case began with the theft of a pickup truck on September 3, 2023 at around 03.00 WIB, and the perpetrator was only arrested on September 25, 2023," he said at the Rejang Lebong Police Headquarters, Bengkulu, Thursday, October 5, confiscated by Antara.

He explained that the suspect who was arrested had the initials R (25), a resident of Sindang Pulanjung District, Rejang Lebong Regency. Then after being developed involved three other suspects, namely W, U and H.

The Head of Curup Police, Iptu Singgih Wirastho, explained that the suspects W and U were arrested by the Taba Penjung Police, Central Bengkulu Regency. The two suspects who were arrested were involved in motorcycle theft in early October 2023, while the other suspect, H, is still at large.

Based on the suspect's statement in front of the Curup Police investigators, said Singgih, it was known that suspect H along with three of his friends in addition to the theft of a pickup car belonging to a vegetable trader in Air Meles Atas Village, Selupu Rejang District on September 3, 2023, as well as 15 motorbikes in the area.

"We managed to arrest suspect R while hiding in Tugumulyo District, Musi Rawas Regency, South Sumatra, where we had to take firm and measured action because when he was about to be arrested he resisted," he explained.

After being arrested by the Curup Police, from the hands of suspect R, a black Mitsubishi total TS pickup car that had not been sold, then seven motorbikes that had been sold consisted of a white Honda Beat, a black Honda Beat, and a black Honda Revo.

Then one unit of black Yamaha NMAX motorcycle, black blue Yamaha Force One, black Yamaha MIO M3 and one white Yamaha Vixion motorcycle.

According to Singgih, suspect R is a recidivist in the theft of a motorized vehicle that was just released from the Class IIA Curup Prison in May 2023. After being released, this suspect has committed car theft and 15 motorbikes in the jurisdiction of the Curup Police.

For his actions, suspect R was charged with investigating officers from the Curup Police with Article 363 paragraph (1) to 3e, 4e and 5e and Article 363 paragraph (2) of the Criminal Code with a penalty of 9 years in prison.
