The PDI-P (PDIP) has asked the government to impose import duties on food imports in the country.
This request is contained in the recommendation of the IV PDIP National Working Meeting (Rakernas) which was read out today, Sunday, October 1.
It is known that the party bearing the bull symbol held the Rakernas IV for three days starting September 29-1 October. The activity took the theme 'Food Sovereignty for the Welfare of the Indonesian People's People's People's Welfare' with the sub-themed 'Pangan as the Symbol of the Predemic of Indonesian Leadership for the World'.
"The implementation of import duties for food imports is to protect domestic commodities and food products and use them for research and innovation financing needs to increase sustainable national food production," said Hasto reading out the PDIP Rakernas IV external recommendations at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta.
PDIP also recommends sustainable use of food resources and increasing agricultural cultivation through findings produced by the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN).
Then the party bearing the bull symbol asked the government to consistently protect productive land from switching functions.
Hasto also read out other recommendations regarding policies that support farmers and fishermen.
"Support for monetary, fiscal, and access to financing policies for farmers, fishermen, and other food producers," he said.
VOIR éGALEMENT:
Hasto said this recommendation is important because the First President of the Republic of Indonesia Soekarno or Bung Karno once mentioned food related to the life and death of a nation.
"The PDI-P places food issues as an ideological issue," he said.
Pandan determines the nation's future because it relates to the country's goal to advance public welfare, educate the nation's life, and build sovereignty in the face of competition with other nations in the world," concluded Hasto.
