PLN Substation At SMAN 6 South Jakarta Explodes, One Security Guard Dies

JAKARTA - A security guard at SMAN 6, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta reportedly died in an electrical panel fire in the school. The victim named Cecep died of deep smoke while extinguishing the fire.

South Jakarta Gulkarmat Piket Officer, Suhardi said the incident occurred on Friday, September 29, at 08.56 WIB.

Meanwhile, the deceased was taken to the hospital. But unfortunately, his life could not be saved.

"School security, died of too much smoke while extinguishing the fire in the substation," said Suhardi in his statement, Friday, September 29.

Suhadi explained, apart from Cecep, there was another victim who worked as a janitor named Ivan. Luckily his life survived when he was taken to the RSPP, South Jakarta.

The Cleaning Service (cleaning officer) survived, but experienced shortness of breath. Then he was rushed directly to the RSPP hospital. Until now, he is still being treated by the hospital," he said.

Suhadi said the incident began when Cecep heard an explosion on the school's electrical panel. Then he and Ivan took a light fire extinguisher (APAR).

The fire was successfully extinguished but the victim breathed too much smoke until he was unconscious. Then the victim was rushed to the hospital. The victim is said to have died," he said

Suhadi admitted that when his party arrived at the location, the fire had been successfully extinguished.

The PLN substation caught fire. Members to the location, the fire was extinguished by the school. (The cause) was friction between the cable and the cable which eventually caused sparks and caused an explosion," he said.
