Mother Steals Eggs to Feed Family, Police Say Her Crime Not Due to Opportunity, But Urgent Need

TANGERANG – Confused about finding daily food, a middle-aged mother with the initials PL (44) stole 2 plastic bags of eggs at a minimarket in the Pondok Aren area, South Tangerang.

PL is a resident of Pondok Jati, Jurang Mangu Barat Village. PL's husband is an online motorcycle taxi driver with three children who are all still at school.

"It is better to resolve this problem peacefully and help pay for the eggs taken by the mother," said Bhabinkamtibmas member Aiptu Samsul, Tuesday, September 19.

Meanwhile, Pondok Aren Police Chief, Commissioner Bambang Askar Sodiq, said that crimes occurred not only because there were evil intentions on the part of the perpetrator, but because of a desperate need.

"Dueness or poverty drives people to commit disbelief or crime," he said.

Bambang hopes that the minimarket will not prolong this problem. He also admitted that he was touched by the presence of residents who were determined to steal because they were pressed for daily needs.

For this reason, the former Soetta Airport Traffic Head asked his members to help ease the burden on the mother's family.

"That mother steals for daily living needs, I ordered Bhabinkamtibmas to buy basic necessities and eggs for the mother," he concluded.
