Buses Become The First Public Transportation Operating At IKN Nusantara Starting In 2024

KALTIM - The Archipelago Capital Authority (OIKN) provides bus transportation and the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system as the first mode of public transportation to serve the people of the National Capital City or IKN Nusantara.

"The first mode of public transportation provided by OIKN next year at IKN Nusantara will be buses and the BRT system," said OIKN Deputy for Facilities and Infrastructure Silvia Halim in the IV Public Consultation online discussion which took place in Jakarta, Friday.

Silvia said, as the population in IKN Nusantara develops and increases, people can switch to rail transportation.

In principle, the provision and development of public transportation is carried out in line with increasing population development.

"In the future, when the population in IKN increases, we can switch to an inner-city railway system," he said.

This gradual provision of public transportation has been regulated and has become Key Performance Indicators (KPI) in the management of IKN Nusantara.

Silvia said that OIKN is committed to developing IKN Nusantara by adopting the 10 minute city principle.

"Basically, in IKN development we adopt the 10 minute city principle, so that wherever we live we can access public areas including the nearest mode of transportation within 10 minutes just by walking," he said.

The Integrated Highway Bus System or Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) is a bus-based mass transit system that provides fast, comfortable and low-cost mobility in its service as transportation in urban areas.

Based on Presidential Regulation (Perpres) of the Republic of Indonesia Number 63 of 2022 concerning Details of the Archipelago Capital Master Plan, the Integrated Highway Bus (BRT) system is the main mode of public transportation, with the operating system, mode technology, service routes and bus stop locations regulated based on calculations above. transportation needs and spatial transit coverage.
