TANJUNG SELOR - Deputy Governor (Deputy Governor) of North Kalimantan (Kaltara), Yansen Tipa Padan directly inspected the normalization activities of the Tanjung Selor Crocodile River, Bulungan Regency.

The Deputy Governor wants to ensure that river normalization activities run according to plan.

Yansen said the normalization of the Crocodile River was an effort to overcome flooding in the Kaltara region. Moreover, Sungai Buaya is one of the rivers in Kaltara that has the potential for flooding in the provincial capital of Kaltara.

"This river normalization is very important and an urgent need," said the Deputy Governor of Kaltara, Yansen TP, Tuesday, September 12.

According to conditions in the field, Yansen continued, the progress of normalizing the Crocodile River in segment I was the result of a collaboration between the Kaltara Provincial Government and Command Resort (Korem) 092/Maharajalila.

"The results have reached 59.94 percent. Meanwhile, in the construction of segment II, which is the responsibility of the Kaltara Provincial Government through the DPUPR-Perkim, the progress has reached 30.27 percent," he explained.

This normalization activity includes dredging mud deposits up to a depth of 2 meters, cleaning up garbage and hyacinth in the river.

"In addition, there is also dredging of sediment around the river to widen it to a width of 30 meters," he said.

Deputy Governor Yansen TP hopes that the normalization activities of the Crocodile River can be completed according to the predetermined schedule.

"Thus, it is hoped that the risk of flooding in the Kaltara region can be minimized," he concluded.
