YOGYAKARTA The Democratic Party is exploring a new coalition in the 2024 presidential election. The party, led by Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), decided to leave the Coalition for Change and Unity after the candidate for vice president (readpres) Anies Baswedan chose the General Chair of the National Awakening Party (PKB) Muhaimin Iskandar as a candidate for vice president (readwapres).

Currently, the Democrats are reportedly building communication with the PDI-P which carries Ganjar Praowo as a presidential reading. So, what are the chances of the Democrats joining the coalition with the PDIP?

Chairman of the Hanura Party, Oesman Sapta Odang, has opened his voice about the opportunity for the Democratic Party to join the coalition of supporters of Ganjar Pranowo's presidential reading in the 2024 presidential election.

The chairman of the Hanura Party's nickname is welcome if there are other parties who want to join.

"All of this is still possible, right. I can't assume it's from other parties, but if you want to join, just go ahead, it's okay," said Oso at the PDIP DPP Office, Monday, September 4, 2023, quoted by VOI.

Oso revealed that there was a party that contacted by telephone in connection with the coalition.

"The problem is that it's been called, but this is just a call," said Oso.

Ketum Hanura hopes that communication is not just a telephone call but can meet like the current meeting of political party leaders.

Meanwhile, the chairman of the PDI-P (PDIP) DPP Puan Maharani said the opportunity for Democrats to join the coalition of parties supporting Ganjar was very likely.

Puan said that cooperation with Democrats could be connected because PDIP was ready. Moreover, according to Puan, communication between PDIP and Democrats is quite good.

"(Communication with Democrats) is still established and continues. Of course, after this, we will conduct a gathering to explore the possibilities," said Puan after closing the Solo International Performing Arts (SIPA) 2023 event at Vastenburg Fort, Solo, Central Java, Saturday, September 2, 2023.

Democrats Signal Joining PDIP Coalition

The Democratic Party gave a signal that it would join the PDIP and PPP coalitions that support Ganjar Pranowo as a presidential reading in the 2024 presidential election.

The signal was conveyed by the Chairman of the Election Winning Body (Bappilu) of the Democratic Party Andi Arief on Wednesday, September 6, 2023.

"The PDIP office and PPP are close, that's the code. How come the office is close," said Andi Arief.

Nevertheless, Andi said that the Democratic Party is still building communication with other parties, such as Gerindra. However, regarding the progress, it is more aimed at PDIP or Gerindra who supports Prabowo Subianto, Andi is reluctant to reveal.

"Already," said Andi.

Previously, the Chairman of the Democratic Party, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), said that his party would move closer to a coalition that has a common perspective, national vision, and political ethics. Democrats will fight for change and improvement.

"In an effort to fight for these changes and improvements, the Democrats will make an effort to join other coalitions that have the same perspective, national vision, and political ethics," AHY said at the DPP office of the Democratic Party, Central Jakarta, Monday, September 4, 2023.

AHY views that ethics, integrity, and commitment have been eroded in the frenzy towards the 2024 General Election. He considered that these three things were no longer important and relevant in achieving political goals.
