Angkasa Pura II Calls Tjilik Riwut Airport Flight Activities Safe From The Impact Of Forest And Land Fires

PALANGKA RAYA - Angkasa Pura II of Tjilik Riwut Airport, Palangka Raya City, Central Kalimantan Province, stated that flight activities are still in a safe condition from the impact of forest and land fires (karhutla) that have occurred in many local areas. "From the operational side of Tjilik Riwut Airport so far, there has been no or no impact related to flight cancellations or other operational constraints due to forest and land fires," said Tjilik Riwut Airport Executive General Manager (EGM) Ardha Wulanigara in Palangka Raya, Antara, Wednesday, September 6. For this reason, his party intensely continues to coordinate with the local Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) and AirNav regarding flight operations. "Especially with regard to forest and land fires, so its relationship with aviation is visibility or visibility. So far, no flights have been disrupted, because we continue to coordinate with BMKG and AirNav. Visibility is still averaged at 8,000-9,000 so it is still safe," he explained. His intense coordination was carried out with BMKG and AirNav, because the procedures related to operational disturbances caused by forest and land fires were further discussed with the two agencies. "For example, if there is information from the BMKG, then it is forwarded to AirNav, then we usually just decide whether the conditions affect flight activities or not. This intense coordination is also one of our anticipation of the impact of forest and land fires," he explained. Ardha further explained that the condition of flight frequency at Tjilik Riwut Airport is still in normal condition, namely around 16 flights, both arrivals and departures.

On the other hand, passenger movements are still in the range of 1,900-2,000 people per day. The available flight routes include Jakarta, Surabaya, and others.
