Ambon City Government Will Legal Process Penuding Acting Mayor Involved In TIP

AMBON - Ambon City Government (Pemkot) will carry out a legal process for parties planning to make an action call regarding allegations that Ambon Mayor Bodew Wattimena is suspected of being involved in a criminal case of trafficking in persons (TPPO).

Ambon City Government spokesman Joy Adriaansz said OKPs throughout Jabodetabek plan to take action. The accusation is considered excessive and unreasonable, so it will be processed into the realm of law, because it is included in defamation.

The allegation is related to the case experienced by the California Education Center Foundation (CEC), Elly Yana, who is currently involved in a criminal case of trafficking in persons (TPPO) in Batam.

The CEC Foundation had struck an agreement with the Ambon City Government regarding the recruitment process for prospective migrant workers who would work in Australia.

"Orangnum yang akan melakukan seringan aksi samaikan tanpa menggelajar informasi lebih detail, hal ini kelirutan dan masuk dalam pelukaan nama baik terhadap Pak Penjabat Wali Kota," katanya dilansir ANTARA, Selasa, 5 September.

The Ambon City Government through the Manpower Office has clarified the problems that occurred in Batam and in Ambon differently.

"Kadis naker has clarified that the problems in Batam and Ambon are different, in Ambon, cooperation with the CEC Foundation is only for the recruitment process for candidates who want to work in Australia and this is in accordance with the agreement of both parties," he said.

The acting mayor has also provided information on the recruitment process and distribution of prospective Ambon City migrant workers received a recommendation from the Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (BP2MI).

So far, no losses have been suffered by residents of Ambon City. The municipal government through the Manpower Office is still conducting explorations and has not yet reached the stage of distributing prospective workers.

"The recruitment process and distribution of prospective Ambon workers to Australia must receive a recommendation from BP2MI, we cannot cooperate alone," he said.
