The Pier Of Muara Baru Port, Jakut, Caught Fire, 9 Fishing Boats Were Burned By Fire

JAKARTA - North Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service Sub-dept. officers extinguished the blaze that burned at least nine fishing boats at the west pier of Nizam Ocean Fishing Port, Zachman Muara Baru, North Jakarta, Tuesday, September 5 in the morning.

"We received the fire news on Monday night at 23.48 WIB, within five minutes we have launched approximately 17 units and supporters," said North Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept. officer Eko Mahendro, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday morning.

The alleged cause of the fire is not yet known, but the ship that caught fire was initially only two. The fire then spread quickly to the other four ships, then spread again to the two ships until finally officers came to the hotspot and tried to extinguish the fire.

"There were nine ships that caught fire. Then the fire also hit the fish auction building a little. But we managed to localize it so that the Syahbandar office was far from the fire bridge," said Eko.

After approximately two hours of handling, the officers finally managed to extinguish the fire at around 01.55 WIB.

He added that the difficulty of the officers was that the burning ship was in the waters, so it was necessary to withdraw several ships to be kept away from the location so as not to catch fire.

Until this news was written, journalists had not received any information regarding the fatalities in the incident.

The investigation into the fire itself is still being handled by the Sunda Kelapa Regional Police, Tanjung Priok Port Resort Police.
