The Minister Of Communication And Information Wants Artists And Celebrities To Be Anti-Judi Online Campaign Ambassadors

JAKARTA - Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) Budi Arie Setiadi said that artists and celebrities who were caught in online or online gambling promotion cases could be used as the Ministry of Communication and Information as an online antijudi campaigner (jurkam) for the community.

"These artists also answered the question earlier, what celebgram was it, it has been summoned. Later they will be passed to Kominfo to become online antijudicles," Budi Arie said in a working meeting with Commission I of the DPR as reported by ANTARA, Monday, September 4.

He said that Indonesia is the only country in ASEAN that does not legalize online gambling, because online gambling is a transnational transverse crime.

"I don't want to be a promoter of legalization of gambling if you have an opinion, please, my friends say that, because we as a nation as a country we have to think seriously about this online gambling problem because if not seven billion dollars to nine billion dollars per year we run," he said.

Met after the meeting, Budie handed over the case of artists and celebrities involved in promoting online gambling to the police. The main thing is that celebrities, artists, who are involved in online gambling, are a matter for the police," he said.

As for when asked specifically about artist Wulan Guritno who is suspected of being involved in online gambling promotions, he said it opened up opportunities to foster and make him an online antijudicial ambassador for the community.

"Later, the police will ask him to wait, we will want him to become an online antijudicial ambassador, so he said in the media he didn't know he thought it was a game. It's not about one artist, everything, celebrities, artists, that's it," he said.

Previously, 26 public figures were reported to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police on suspicion of promoting online or online gambling through content on social media, including Wulan Guritno.

"Today we have just visited the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police Headquarters, especially in Cyber, regarding reports or complaints regarding gambling-loaded content videos allegedly carried out by 26 public figures who are trying to create content related to the promotion of online gambling videos," said Chairman of the Indonesian Muslim Lawyers Association (ALMI) Muhamad Zainul Arifin in Bareskrim, Jakarta, Monday.

Zainul detailed the initials of the 26 public figures are WG (Wulan Guritno), VP, DP, YL, DD, OL, DC, AL, GD, DC, BW, AM, AM, NM, CV, GY and CC. In addition, there are initials CH, TM, S, KO, HH, AL, JI, AT and ZG.

According to him, these content were created between 2017-2023 and the public figures received a minimum reward of Rp. 10 million and even more than Rp. 100 million.
